ولقد أمكن للشركة القابضة لكهرباء مصر (هيئة كهرباء مصر سابقاً) تحقيق إنجازات ضخمة خلال فترة العشرين عاماً السابقة ، وكانت الكهرباء أساساً للمشروعات الصناعية فى جميع مجالات الصناعة الثقيلة والخفيفة والوسيطة والصناعات الصغيرة ، كما كانت الكهرباء أساساً للمشروعات فى مجالات الزراعة واستصلاح الأراضى والثروة الحيوانية وفى مجال الاسكان والتجارة والخدمات والإعلام والنهضة الاجتماعية والإنسانية عموماً ، وكانت ركيزة للمدن الجديدة والمنتجعات السياحية والأنشطة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية.
أهداف الشركة
- توفير الطاقة الكهربية على الجهود المختلفة لكافة الاستخدامات بكفاءة عالية وأسعار مناسبة .
- إجراء التخطيط والدراسات والتصميمات فى مجال الشركة وشركاتها التابعة.
- تنفيذ المشروعات الخاصة بإنتاج الطاقة الكهربية من المحطات الحرارية .
- تنفيذ برنامج مكثف لترشيد الطاقة الكهربائية فى المنازل وإنارة الشوارع .
- تنفيذ المشروعات الخاصة بنقل الطاقة الكهربية .
- إدارة المركز القومى للتحكم بهدف الإشراف على إنتاج ونقل وتوزيع الطاقة الكهربية.
- شراء الطاقة الكهربية المنتجة من محطات التوليد التى يصرح للمستثمرين المحليين والأجانب بإنشائها ، وبيعها على شبكات الجهد الفائق .
- إدارة وتشغيل وصيانة شبكات النقل على الجهود الفائقة ، وبيع الطاقة الكهربية على هذه الجهود فى أنحاء الجمهورية، واستغلال هذه الشبكات الاستغلال الأمثل.
- تنظيم حركة الأحمال على الشبكات ذات الجهد الفائق فى أنحاء جمهورية مصر العربية.
- تنفيذ مشروعات الربط الكهربائى وتبادل الطاقة الكهربية مع الدول الأخرى، وبيعها وشراؤها طبقاً للحاجة من الشبكات الكهربية المرتبطة مع الشبكة الكهربية الموحدة المصريه.
- كما ان الشركة تولى التعاون مع الشركات والهيئات العربية والافريقية اهتماما خاصا سواء بتكوين شركات مشتركة فى مجال الاستشارات الهندسية مثل الشركه الليبيه المصريه (اسيسكو) والشركه السوريه المصريه.
- إجراء البحوث والاختبارات للمعدات الكهربية ذات الجهود المختلفة.

The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (formerly the Egyptian Electricity Authority) has achieved tremendous accomplishments over the past twenty years. Electricity has been fundamental to industrial projects across all sectors—heavy, light, intermediate, and small industries—as well as to projects in agriculture, land reclamation, livestock, housing, commerce, services, media, and overall social and human development. It has also been a cornerstone for new cities, tourist resorts, and economic and social activities.
Company Objectives
- To provide electricity at various voltage levels for all uses with high efficiency and at reasonable prices.
- To conduct planning, studies, and designs within the company and its subsidiaries.
- To implement projects related to electricity generation from thermal power plants.
- To implement an intensive program for rationalizing electricity consumption in homes and street lighting.
- To implement projects related to electricity transmission.
- To manage the National Control Center to oversee the production, transmission, and distribution of electricity.
- To purchase electricity generated from power plants authorized for construction by local and foreign investors and sell it on the extra-high voltage network.
- To manage, operate, and maintain extra-high voltage transmission networks, sell electricity at these voltages throughout the country, and optimize the utilization of these networks.
- To regulate load movement on extra-high voltage networks throughout the Arab Republic of Egypt.
- To implement electricity interconnection projects and exchange electricity with other countries, buying and selling electricity as needed from the electricity networks connected to the unified Egyptian electricity grid.
- The company also places special emphasis on collaborating with Arab and African companies and organizations, including establishing joint ventures in the field of engineering consulting, such as the Libyan-Egyptian Company (ASESCO) and the Syrian-Egyptian Company.
- It also conducts research and testing on electrical equipment of varying voltages.
